Tim Barnes

With over 25 years’ experience in highways and transport, Tim started his career in Gwynedd Council’s Highways Structures section. Increasingly senior roles in the highways department in Conwy County Borough Council followed until 2013 when he joined the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent as Asset Manager.

He joined the Welsh Government in 2015 and Tim is currently the Head of Planning, Asset Management and Standards for the £17bn Strategic Road Network in Wales, responsible for: the planning of forward programmes of improvement and maintenance; asset management strategies and systems; standards and technical approval and environmental advice and governance.

Tim is a graduate of Civil Engineering from the University of Liverpool and a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
